Monday (24/10) – Faculty of Animal Science and Agricultural Universitas Diponegoro with continuing the collaboration with Genetic, Breeding and Reproduction Laboratory in order to care with farmers was held Guest Lecturer International Webinar. The international webinar has theme “Effect of Heat Stress on Dairy Animals Behavior, Hematologic, Reproduction and Milk Yield”. Dr. Renato S.A. Vega from University of The Philippines Los Banos is the main speaker.
The event was held by zoom meeting and live streaming by Youtube UndipTV Official. The event presents competent speaksers in their fields, wich of course also attended by participants from those who involved in the animal sciences and public, with approximately wacthed by 300 people.
The event was moderated by Ir. Daud Samsudewa S.Pt., M.Si., Ph.D., IPM. as Lecturer of the Faculty of Animal and Agricultural Science Universitas Diponegoro.
The Guest Lecturer activity was reported by the Head of Animal Science Study Program FPP Undip, Ir. Rudy Hartanto, S.Pt., M.P., Ph.D., IPM. and then it was followed by opening speech by Vice Dean of Resources Faculty of Animal dan Agricultural Science Universitas Diponegoro, Agus Setiadi, S.Pt., M.Si., Ph.D.
To quote him, “This Guest Lecturer International Webinar talking about beef and dairy cattle are something that very much needed in livestock in Indonesia and trying to bounce back from the PMK case yesterday. I hope this event will be the one of public dedication service in supporting the SDG’s number 2 (zero hunger).”
In his presentation time, Dr. Renato S.A. Vega conveyed many things related to hematologic and physiological responses of a stressed Bulgarian Murrah Bufallo Bulls. Besides that Dr. Renato S.A. Vega also explained about semen quality of heat stressed Bulgarian Murrah Bufallo Bulls.
In closing of his presentation, Dr. Renato S.A. Vega made a conclusion that “Heat stress could have a direct impact on dairy cattle such as water buffalo. It’s could impact on haematological perspective such as it could increase the Hb, RBC, CPV dan Platelet. It could also impact on its behavioural like feed intake, drinking frequency, urination and defecation activity. It also impacted on semen quality and reproductive mechanism on dairy cattle and then the last thing is the milking cows with low milk yield produced have non-significant correlation with heat stress. But cows with higher production has the great impact of heat stress with of course it needs more study of it.”
“We hope for this event Guest Lecturer International Webinar can help the farmers for increasing their livestock productivity as competent farmers. Besides that, this event expected to be a form of public dedication, teaching staff, animal science departemens, especially the Genetic, Breeding and Reproduction Laboratory to supporting the SGD’s number 2 (zeo hunger) and prosper the community.” Ir. Daud Samsudewa S.Pt., M.Si., Ph.D., IPM. as moderator and head of committee.
